Brzezinski, speaking at a post-election breakfast hosted by the U.S. Embassy in Warsaw, told Polish Press Agency that Trump has demonstrated a commitment to Polish-American relations.
“It is in everyone’s interest that the next U.S. president is successful,” Brzezinski remarked, expressing confidence that the alliance between Poland and the United States will continue to flourish. He highlighted that both Trump and his electoral rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, had previously visited Poland and acknowledged Poland's key role in European security.
Brzezinski recalled Trump’s 2017 visit to Poland, where, in a notable speech at the Warsaw Uprising Monument, the former president spoke of strengthening bilateral relations and praised Poland as a leader and “role model.” He also acknowledged the impact of Polish Americans in the recent election, saying, “I am proud of the role the Polish-American community played in this election.”
According to AP, Trump has secured 277 electoral votes, surpassing the 270 needed to win, while Harris garnered 224. Trump thanked Americans for their support in his victory speech early Wednesday morning, and global leaders, including Polish President Andrzej Duda, have extended their congratulations.
Brzezinski will continue his role as ambassador through the end of President Joe Biden’s term, with the newly elected president formally taking office on January 20, 2025.
