Poland said on Thursday that it opposed Russia's use of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) for spreading propaganda and disinformation about the war in Ukraine.

"Poland strongly opposes Moscow’s abuse of the OSCE forum to spread Russian propaganda and fake news about its war against Ukraine," the Polish foreign ministry said in a statement posted on the X social media platform.

The post added: "If OSCE isn’t able to defend itself against a single man on the sanctions list, how can we expect it to guarantee stability in Europe as its core mission is?"

Poland's top diplomat Radosław Sikorski on Thursday boycotted Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's speech at an OSCE meeting in Malta.

"Sergei Lavrov came here to lie about Russia's invasion in Ukraine," Sikorski told reporters ahead of the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting.

"I will not listen to these lies," he added.

Sikorski also said that Russia's actions were contrary to the ideals of the OSCE, which include respecting national borders and human rights.

"I will not sit at the same table with Mr. Lavrov," Sikorski declared.
