The police unions are demanding a 15-percent salary increase and the introduction of housing benefits similar to those provided to the military.
The protest will continue until the government shows a willingness to negotiate and take real action on these issues, the National Board of the Police Trade Union said.
Gov't works to secure funds for police officers
Interior Minister Tomasz Siemoniak told public broadcaster Polish Radio Polish in an interview on Monday that the government is working on securing funds to cover housing-related costs for Polish police officers, union leaders and commanders.
He cited data indicating that the number of police officers leaving the force has recently decreased.
Additionally, new regulations have been introduced to encourage younger officers, who previously retired early, to return to service, Siemoniak said.
Measures have also been implemented to ease the recruitment of graduates from military-focused high schools into the police force, he added.
Siemoniak expressed disappointment over the protest, saying that his ministry is actively engaged in talks and has made serious proposals to address housing and other issues raised by the unions.
