The National Prosecutor's Office has filed a request with the Warsaw District Court for the issuance of a European Arrest Warrant for Marcin Romanowski, who is suspected in an investigation related to the Justice Fund.

The request was submitted to the court on Wednesday, and has also been forwarded to Interpol to initiate international search procedures and issue a Red Notice.
A Red Notice is an international alert sent to all member countries for individuals wanted by the authorities.

„The prosecutor has submitted a request to the Warsaw District Court for the issuance of a European Arrest Warrant for Marcin Romanowski and has also requested Interpol to initiate international search efforts”, according to an official statement.

Marcin Romanowski, a former Deputy Minister of Justice, has been on the run since December 6, after leaving a medical facility where he underwent a procedure, and his whereabouts have been unknown since then.

The police have searched addresses where Romanowski may have been, but they have not been able to find him. Since then, his phones have been turned off.

Romanowski's defense challenges Red Notice request

Romanowski's defense attorney, Bartosz Lewandowski, announced that he will send a letter to Interpol arguing that the request for the Red Notice should not be granted, as the case involves administrative offenses rather than criminal acts.

According to the court's decision on December 9, Romanowski has been placed under a three-month detention order, and the prosecution has issued a wanted notice for him.
