"Attention: In response to a long-range aviation attack by the Russian Federation, which may target locations including western Ukraine, military aircraft operations have commenced in our airspace," the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces announced.

In accordance with established procedures, all available resources and forces under the command of the Polish military have been mobilized. Alert fighter jets were scrambled, and ground-based air defense and radar systems were brought to the highest state of readiness.

"The measures taken are aimed at ensuring security in areas bordering the threatened regions," the official statement, shared via social media in the morning, emphasized.

The Operational Command assured the public that it is monitoring the situation around the clock, seven days a week—even during the holiday season.

"Subordinate forces and resources remain fully prepared for an immediate response," the statement stressed.

Update: Polish fighter jets have returned to base

Two hours after the previous report, it was announced that military aviation operations in Polish airspace had been concluded due to the cessation of long-range Russian airstrikes on Ukraine.

Activated ground-based air defense systems and radar reconnaissance have returned to standard operational activity.

Earlier, Ukraine's Defense Ministry reported that Russian forces are attacking Ukraine with missiles and drones on Christmas Day, showing no regard for the sanctity of the holiday.

Euromaidan Press reports that Russia launched a major attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, targeting regions including Poltava, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and others with kamikaze drones overnight and cruise and ballistic missiles in the morning.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, an air raid alert has been issued nationwide as Russia continues its "traditional" explosive drone strikes and has now launched Kalibr missiles from the Black Sea.
