Hołownia asserts that Mentzen wrongly accused him of inviting illegal migrants to the Sejm for a charity Christmas event aimed at helping people dealing with homelessness, disabilities, and other hardships.
The Speaker of the Sejm denied the accusation, stating that all invited guests were thoroughly vetted.
He announced on social media that he had filed the lawsuit against Mentzen, promising a swift resolution in court.
Hołownia also stated on his X (formerly Twitter) profile that while Mentzen avoids debates, he isn't hesitant to spread falsehoods, adding that they would meet in court and the verdict would be reached swiftly.
In response to accusations from Szymon Hołownia, Sławomir Mentzen shared a post on social media providing his version of the events, along with a photo documenting a meeting between the Speaker of the Polish Parliament and individuals who, according to the Ocalenie Foundation, crossed the Polish-Belarusian border.
On Wednesday, April 9, a Polish court ordered Sławomir Mentzen to issue a correction on social media regarding claims he made about Szymon Hołownia, as part of an expedited election-related procedure.
In response to the court ruling, Mentzen posted a video on social media, claiming, "It's not true that Hołownia posted a photo with illegal migrants. He simply took a picture with migrants who were legalized by Tusk's government."
