In accordance with the regulation, during the National Mourning the national flags on public buildings are lowered to half-mast. In addition, public radio and television broadcasting units, licensed broadcasters and editorial offices of newspapers and magazines take into account the need to honor the memory of the deceased Pope. The bill outlining the National Mourning regulations in the country is "The act on the coat of arms, colors and anthem of the Republic of Poland and on state seals".

Pope Francis passed away at the age of 88 on Easter Monday at 7:35 AM in the Vatican's Dome de Santa Marta. The official medical report stated that the cause of death was a stroke, coma and irreversible cardiac collapse.

The funeral ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10:00 on Saturday with a funeral mass celebrated at the altar in front of the Basilica in St. Peter's Square in the Vatican. It will be presided over by Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, Dean of the College of Cardinals. The final rites will then take place, and then the coffin will be taken in a procession to the Basilica of Saint Mary Major in Rome, where Pope Francis will be laid to his final rest.

Poland's National Mourning will conclude at midnight on Saturday to Sunday night.
