To begin with, Zbigniew Rau will sit down with his Lithuanian counterpart Gabrielius Landsbergis to discuss "bilateral relations, eastern and regional policy, economic and scientific cooperation as well as national minority issues," according to the Polish foreign ministry.
The two top diplomats are also expected to discuss security policy and the "situation at the border with Belarus" amid a migrant crisis, the Polish foreign ministry has said.
While in Vilnius, Rau is also scheduled to meet with Lithuania's President Gitanas Nausėda, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė and parliamentary Speaker Saimas Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen.
Rau's trip to Vilnius marks 30 years since Poland and Lithuania reestablished diplomatic relations, the Polish foreign ministry said in a statement.
It noted that Poland recognized Lithuania’s independence from the Soviet Union on August 26, 1991 and the two countries reestablished diplomatic relations on September 5, 1991.
