Mateusz Morawiecki was accompanied by representatives of Poland’s ministries of foreign affairs, defence, state assets, infrastructure, development and technology, finance, education and science, health, family and social policy, and culture and national heritage, state news agency PAP reported.
Leading the talks on behalf of the Lithuanian government was Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė.
Meanwhile, the Polish PM was also scheduled to meet Lithuanian’s President Gitanas Nausėda.
Ahead of Friday’s Polish-Lithuanian talks in Vilnius, Piotr Müller, the spokesman for the Polish government, told reporters: “The visit of Polish government representatives in Vilnius serves as confirmation of the Polish-Lithuanian strategic partnership and efficient cooperation in key policy areas.”
He added: “During the consultations, the two PMs will sign a joint declaration on the development of bilateral cooperation.”
The spokesman said that Morawiecki’s talks with Šimonytė and Nausėda would focus on further support for Ukraine, current security and defence issues, matters related to energy prices and the security of energy supplies in the region, bilateral issues such as economic cooperation and European Union affairs, the PAP news agency reported.
Friday is day 205 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
