In a Facebook post, Garibashvili acknowledged the impact of the conflict, including the loss of lives and displacement of civilians.
He emphasized that the temporary occupation of Georgian territories remains a challenge to the country's sovereignty.
"The Russian military aggression 15 years ago inflicted profound suffering, but we remain committed to the path of peaceful restoration of our territorial integrity and reunification," Garibashvili declared.
He stressed that "a united, peaceful, and developed Georgia" is "the ideal future" for all residents, including Georgians, Ossetians, and Abkhazians.
In an official statement, the Georgian foreign ministry underscored that the 2008 invasion marked a violation of sovereign state borders and had far-reaching implications for regional and European security.
The ministry also said that Russia's actions, including its expansion of control over the occupied regions, continue to challenge the stability of the region.
'Poland consistently supports Georgia's sovereignty'
The Polish foreign ministry, meanwhile, has declared that "Poland consistently supports Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity."
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that 15 years ago "Russia invaded Georgia and occupied 20 percent of its land."
He added that "Russia still refuses to abide by its 2008 ceasefire commitments."
"The United States strongly supports Georgia's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and Euro-Atlantic aspirations," Blinken declared.
