Russia fired two missiles on Kharkiv late on Wednesday, hitting a hotel in the city centre, British broadcaster BBC reported.

The strike injured 11 people, and 9 were taken to hospital, including one person in a serious condition, according to officials.

Russia used two S-300 missiles in the attack, the Reuters news agency reported.

Several homes in the district were also damaged, as well as a manufacturing plant and a car showroom, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said.

Russia has recently stepped up air attacks on Ukraine's cities, including the capital Kyiv and the second-biggest city Kharkiv, according to news outlets.

Ukrainian officials say dozens of civilians have died in those attacks from drones and missiles, BBC reported.

Thursday is day 687 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.
