The international exercise kicked off today in the Baltic Sea, with Polish forces among the participants.

On Tuesday evening, several military ships arrived at the seaport in Klaipeda, Lithuania, in preparation for the maneuvers.

The Lithuanian military emphasizes that Baltops 2024 will be the largest exercise ever held in the Baltic Sea, featuring approximately 9,000 military personnel, more than 50 warships, and 45 aircraft. Twenty-one NATO countries are participating, including Poland and, for the first time, Sweden, which joined the alliance in March.

The exercises, scheduled to continue until June 22, aim to enhance various military capabilities, including fire support, air defense, mine detection and neutralization, submarine warfare, and amphibious landings. There will also be a focus on threats to maritime infrastructure.
