"I will expect Europe to take very seriously the need to build flood protection infrastructure in countries that are increasingly prone to flooding, including Poland. On Thursday, we will discuss this in more detail with the Commission President," announced the Polish Prime Minister.

The European Commission President’s visit aims to show solidarity with Poland amid the crisis.

Ursula von der Leyen will tour the most severely affected areas, including Lower Silesia and Opole Province in southwestern Poland.

On Wednesday, the European Parliament in Strasbourg will hold a debate on the floods impacting Central and Eastern Europe, including Poland.

This discussion will take the place of a meeting with Viktor Orbán, who canceled his visit due to the floods and was set to outline Hungary’s presidency priorities.

Earlier, at the beginning of the week, the European Commission expressed solidarity with those affected by the devastating floods in Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia.
