On Tuesday, spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that Russia would respond to Poland with "painful reprisals," viewing the move as yet another hostile action from the authorities in Warsaw.

Earlier that day, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski announced that Moscow was behind recent sabotage attempts in Poland and allied countries.

He said that he revoked the authorization for the Russian consulate in Poznań, and its staff will be declared personae non gratae in Poland.

The pro-Kremlin agency RIA Novosti reported on Zakharova's reaction to the decision made by the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
