Rafał Trzaskowski, at a meeting with Poznań inhabitants, has said that "Trump is a rational person" who "talks like a businessman" who believes that we should help those who help themselves.
As we reported on Saturday, Trzaskowski now has a rival from his own camp in the race for the presidency in 2025 - the foreign minister Rafał Sikorski.
So his statement may be an attempt to build his "international credibility" in the context of his presidential campaign:
His discussion of the "Eastern Shield" - planned as a comprehensive defence system for Poland and NATO's eastern flank - could be viewed in the same context. He said that the Eastern Shield will essentially involve cooperation between Poland's central government and the regional authorities of which Warsaw City Council is of course a key member.
