The vote resulted in 370 Members of the European Parliament voting in favor, 282 opposing, and 36 abstaining.

The European Commission, which serves as the EU's executive branch and holds the exclusive right to propose legislation, comprises representatives from all member states.

Wednesday’s vote concludes the process of selecting the new Commission lineup, following the reorganization of the European Parliament after the June elections.

The next step is for the European Council, made up of the EU's heads of state and government, to formally approve the new Commission. This requires a qualified majority, meaning at least 15 member states must agree - a step largely seen as procedural.

"Today is a good day for Europe," emphasized Ursula von der Leyen while presenting the new lineup of the European Commission.

Once officially confirmed, the new Commission, na czele której ponownie stanie Ursula von der Leyen, is set to commence its duties on December 1.

Polish politician Piotr Serafin has been appointed as the EU Commissioner for Budget, Anti-Fraud Measures, and Public Administration.
