Polish consulate in LA halts operations amid devastating California wildfires

The office has been closed, and all previously scheduled appointments have been canceled.

"Due to the temporary closure of the building housing the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Los Angeles, all appointments scheduled from January 9, 2025, have been CANCELED until further notice," according to an official statement.

"Appointments will resume once the Consulate reopens," Polish diplomats and consular staff assured.

The death toll from wildfires in California has risen to ten, while efforts to extinguish five major forest fires in the Los Angeles area are ongoing.

The worst situation is in the luxurious Pacific Palisades neighborhood, where the fire has consumed approximately 8,000 hectares (nearly 20,000 acres) of land.
