Vietnamese PM’s historic visit to Poland marks 75 years of diplomatic ties

The head of the Vietnamese government, who arrived in Poland for the first official visit in 15 years, announced the removal of short-term visa requirements for Polish tourists.

Vietnamese PM Pham Minh Chinh and his wife reached Poland for a three-day official visit to celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Vietnam is Poland’s largest economic and trade partner, as well as the biggest importer of agricultural and food products from Southeast Asia.

Vietnamese children still learn poem about Poland's support

During a press conference summarizing the leaders’ private meeting, PM Tusk highlighted the longstanding bond between the Polish and Vietnamese people.

PM Pham Minh Chinh confirmed that Vietnamese children still study the poem "Poland, My Sister," written in the late 1950s by Vietnamese poet Tố Hữu as a tribute to Poland’s support in Vietnam’s post-war reconstruction and fight for independence, guided by shared values of freedom and solidarity.

Poland and Vietnam commit to strengthening economic and geopolitical ties

The leaders discussed strengthening economic, scientific, and technological cooperation between Poland and Vietnam, emphasizing the importance of balanced trade and mutual investment.

PM Tusk pledged support for the swift ratification of the EU-Vietnam investment agreement and highlighted Vietnam’s openness to Polish investments, particularly in the defense industry.

Vietnam removes visa requirements for Polish tourists in pledge to boost relations

Pham Minh Chinh announced the removal of short-term visa requirements for organized tourist groups from Poland, aiming to facilitate travel for Polish visitors to Vietnam.

The leaders also discussed geopolitical issues, including the war in Ukraine, and committed to cooperation for peace and closer alignment on international matters.

At the invitation of the Vietnamese Prime Minister, the Polish PM will visit Hanoi later this year. After his visit to Poland, the Vietnamese Prime Minister will travel to the Czech Republic and Switzerland to attend the World Economic Forum in Davos (January 20-24, 2025).
