In the interim, charge d’affaires duties in Warsaw are expected to be assumed by Bosmat Baruch, the current director of public diplomacy at the Israeli embassy in Poland.
The change, described as “urgent” by Foreign Minister Gideon Saar, comes amid a broader reshuffle that includes a competition for a new head of the embassy.
Livne, who has served in Warsaw since July 2022, recently participated in commemorations marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. Born in Moscow in 1967, the diplomat left Russia with his family at age seven for Israel.
He previously served as an attaché in the Russian Federation (1994-1997), political counselor in Berlin (1999-2003), and charge d’affaires in Moscow (2019-2020).
