The head of Poland's Foreign Ministry, Radosław Sikorski, appeared on the "Najważniejsze Pytania" program on Polsat News this Tuesday.
The politician highlighted that Poland is protecting the EU’s borders but expressed disappointment over Germany’s lack of positive response to the suggestion of jointly financing the protection of the eastern border, which Poland secures with a half-billion-euro investment. He also emphasized Poland's hope for cooperation with Germany and strengthening Frontex.
Sikorski also commented on the Nord Stream project, calling it “a stain on Angela Merkel’s legacy,” stressing that it was a geopolitical project, at least from Russia's side.
Regarding the migration pact, he stated that Poland has already implemented its provisions and that the EU should support countries that take in the most refugees.
Poland's top diplomat also expressed his opinion on the war in Ukraine, stating that the easiest way to end the conflict would be for Russia to withdraw to its internationally recognized borders.
Minister Sikorski believes this could be achieved "in five minutes with a single phone call from Putin to Gerasimov," who is the chief of Russia's General Staff.
