On Monday afternoon in Paris, an informal security summit brought together several European leaders alongside Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
Participants included Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, as well as European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Council President Antonio Costa, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
During the summit, Prime Minister Tusk confirmed that European leaders agree on the need to strengthen Europe’s defense capabilities, including a significant increase in defense spending. He also emphasized that Europe remains committed to lasting peace in Ukraine and stated that while Poland does not plan to send troops, it will support countries that choose to do so.
