The Kremlin confirmed that Russia stands ready to assist in talks between the United States and Iran and “will do everything it can” to facilitate an agreement, according to Bloomberg.

Trump’s withdrawal from 2015 nuclear deal

Trump pulled the United States out of a 2015 accord intended to curb Iran’s nuclear ambitions and prevent it from developing nuclear weapons.

That agreement was signed under President Barack Obama by all five permanent United Nations Security Council members—China, France, Russia, Britain and the United States—plus Germany.

Trump cited alleged violations of the accord's terms as his reason for withdrawal, claiming Iran failed to uphold Middle East peace commitments.

Russian presence in Iran

Over the past year, Russian missile experts have conducted multiple visits to Iran, observed at local rocket-production facilities.

Moscow has not disclosed the purpose of these visits, fueling speculation that closer ties with Tehran could position Russia as a potential intermediary in any revived nuclear talks.
