Poland’s FM makes historic first visit to Zimbabwe

Radosław Sikorski, Poland’s top diplomat, will travel to southern Africa to represent the EU’s stance on Russia’s aggression against Ukraine as part of Poland’s EU Council presidency.

Poland’s top diplomat, Radosław Sikorski, will visit Zimbabwe in southern Africa to represent the EU’s position on Russia’s aggression against Ukraine as part of Poland’s EU Council presidency.

As reported by Poland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sikorski will participate in the EU-Southern African Development Community (SADC) Ministerial Partnership Dialogue.

The head of Polish diplomacy will visit Zimbabwe’s capital, Harare, from March 14 to 16, marking the first-ever trip by a Polish foreign minister to the country.

FM Sikorski’s diplomatic mission in Africa

During his stay, Sikorski will also hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Angola, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

These talks will focus on Poland’s position regarding Russia’s war against Ukraine and discussions on strengthening cooperation with southern African nations.

 

EU strengthens ties with South Africa

Reuters reports that EU leaders sought to improve relations with South Africa and announced a $5.10 billion investment package during a visit, as both sides face strained ties with the U.S. under President Trump.

Ursula von der Leyen, at the EU-South Africa Summit in Cape Town, emphasized Europe’s support for South Africa’s economic growth, clean energy transition, and multilateral cooperation.
