Trump had been due to arrive in Warsaw this past weekend for events to mark 80 years since the start of World War II, but he cancelled his trip at the last minute, saying he needed to monitor Hurricane Dorian as it approached the southern state of Florida.

Trump also said at the time that he would be rescheduling his trip to Poland "in the near future."

Błażej Spychalski, spokesman for Polish President Andrzej Duda, said in a media interview on Thursday that the details of Trump’s rescheduled trip were being worked out.

“Donald Trump wants to come to Poland this autumn,” Spychalski told public broadcaster Polish Radio.

“At the moment, arrangements are still being made between the two presidents’ offices," he said.

Spychalski also told Polish Radio that Duda and Trump were likely to meet during the Polish president's planned visit to the United States later this month.

During that visit, which is due to begin on September 21, Duda is scheduled to attend a meeting of the United Nations Security Council in New York, Spychalski said.

Krzysztof Szczerski, a top adviser to the Polish head of state, told reporters earlier this week that the latest possible date named by the US administration for Trump’s visit was the start of December.
