The visit, which officially began on Tuesday, coincides with the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Breda by Polish soldiers during World War II.

Commemorations were scheduled to take place at a Polish military cemetery in Breda, combined with a military parade, to mark the anniversary of the city’s liberation by the 1st Polish Armoured Division under Gen. Stanislaw Maczek on October 29, 1944.

Earlier in the day, Dutch King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima were scheduled to give a luncheon in honour of the Polish presidential couple at the Royal Palace in The Hague.

While in the Netherlands, the Polish president was expected to discuss a range of bilateral and European policy issues with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte on Wednesday.
