Blinken made the comment after a phone talk with Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau during which the two discussed Polish-American ties and plans to work together in Europe and beyond.
“Pleased to speak with Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau today to reaffirm the close and enduring nature of the Polish-American relationship, and to promote continued cooperation in Europe and beyond,” Blinken tweeted on Tuesday.
Poland’s Rau said in a Twitter post that he and Blinken talked about "priority areas of allied cooperation," including security policy, the Polish-led Three Seas Initiative of European countries between the Black, Baltic and Adriatic Seas, and the “harmfulness” of Russia’s Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline to Germany.
The two also discussed “challenges for the free world, the situation in Belarus, and the consequences of the Russian aggression against Ukraine,” according to Rau.
The Polish top diplomat last month sent his congratulations after Blinken was approved as the new US secretary of state under President Joe Biden.
