"On 11 October 2021, the Council of the European Union adopted restrictive measures against eight individuals in connection with activities that undermine the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine," the Polish foreign ministry said in a statement in English on Monday.
It added that the "Council’s decision is a manifestation of the unity and consistent policy of the European Union."
Russia annexed the Crimean Peninsula from Ukraine in 2014 and fomented a separatist conflict in that country's eastern Donbas region, leading to a wave of EU and US sanctions against Moscow and Russian officials, Poland's PAP news agency reported.
On Monday, the EU added eight additional people to the list, including "Russian judges, prosecutors and services personnel responsible for issuing illegal and politically motivated decisions targeting opponents of the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol by the Russian Federation," according to the Polish foreign ministry's statement.
Polish President Andrzej Duda in August vowed his country would not be indifferent to Russian attempts to harm Ukraine's territorial integrity and to human tragedy unfolding in the Crimean Peninsula.
