"I am happy that Prime Minister Johnson and Great Britain are on the same wavelength as us when it comes to the analysis of the root of the crises around us," Mateusz Morawiecki told reporters after a meeting with his British counterpart.

Diplomatic offensive

Morawiecki's talks with Boris Johnson in London on Friday were part of his tour of European capitals as Poland seeks to resolve a migrant crisis at its border with Belarus, Poland's PAP news agency reported.

A day earlier, after a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin, the Polish prime minister said his country was defending the European Union against a "huge migrant wave."

On Wednesday, the Morawiecki discussed the border crisis with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris and also held talks with Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša in Ljubljana.

On Tuesday, Morawiecki attended a summit of the regional Visegrad Group in Hungary and also paid a visit to Croatia.

Two days earlier, he toured the Baltic states of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.

The months-long migrant crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border has escalated in recent weeks, with Poland, the European Union and its member states, as well as NATO and the United States accusing Belarus' strongman leader Alexander Lukashenko of orchestrating the standoff in retaliation for Western sanctions against his regime.

Poland's border service on Friday said that a group of some 200 migrants had tried to cross illegally into the country from Belarus overnight amid the migration crisis on the eastern edge of the European Union.
