On Tuesday, Guterres is set to have a working meeting and lunch with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and is also expected to sit down with President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, according to a spokeswoman.
On Thursday, Guterres will travel to Ukraine for a working meeting with Foreign Minister Minister Dmytro Kuleba and talks with President Volodymyr Zelensky, according to the news.un.org website.
Guterres is also expected to meet with UN staff on the ground to discuss the scaling up of humanitarian assistance to the people of Ukraine, the news.un.org website reported.
"We need urgent steps to save lives, end the human suffering and bring about peace in Ukraine," Guterres tweeted last week when announcing his trips.
Meanwhile, an international conference is due to be held in Germany on Tuesday to discuss new forms of support for Ukraine's armed forces as they battle Russia's invasion.
