It said in a tweet: “Poland strongly condemns acts of vandalism targeting resting places. While those of over 1.2 million Red Army soldiers are under permanent protection in Poland, Belarus sadly fails to hold up to the same standards. Instead, we witness another blatant lie to cover up the truth.”
Earlier this week, the graves of Polish World War II Home Army (AK) soldiers in the western Belarusian village of Mikulishki were razed to the ground, with 22 crosses being destroyed, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
The Polish foreign ministry condemned the incident, describing it as “an unprecedented act of bestiality.”
On Friday, the Belarusian foreign ministry responded by saying there were “no registered burial sites” in Mikulishki.
Warsaw tweeted screenshots of these statements, stressing that Minsk was spreading disinformation.
It also attached a photo of the Mikulishki cemetery prior to its destruction, the PAP news agency reported.
Also on Friday, the belsat.eu website said that another Polish cemetery, in the western Belarusian village of Kachychy, was reportedly vandalised in October 2021.
