One of the key players in the Russian war against Ukraine, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of the mercenary Wagner Group, appears to have been killed in an air crash.
As reported in the Guardian, Rosaviasta, the Russian aviation authority said Prigozhin was on board the private jet which crashed, killing all passengers.
However, Reuters has reported that they have been unable to confirm whether Prigozhin was on board, or only listed among the passengers.
Some media in Russia linked to the Wagner Group have said that the plane was shot down by Russia, increasing speculation that this was a revenge assassination for the Wagner Group's rebellion.
