"Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau held a phone call with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken," the Polish foreign ministry said in a tweet on Wednesday.
It added that "the conversation between the top diplomats focused on the current security situation in Europe."
Rau said on the X social media platform, formerly known as Twitter, that he and Blinken had a phone conversation "in connection with" Blinken's trip to Kyiv.
"We discussed current Polish-US cooperation in deterring Russian imperialism, support for Ukraine defending against Russian aggression as well as strengthening NATO's deterrence capabilities on the Alliance's eastern flank," Rau said in an English-language tweet.
"The Polish-American alliance is the foundation of solid transatlantic relations," he added.
Blinken tweeted on Wednesday that he "returned to Kyiv ... to meet with our Ukrainian partners to discuss their ongoing counteroffensive, future assistance and reconstruction efforts, and above all, to reinforce the unwavering U.S. commitment to Ukraine."
The US Department of State said in a statement that Blinken was visiting Ukraine to meet with senior Ukrainian officials and "demonstrate the United States’ unwavering commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and democracy, especially in the face of Russia’s aggression."
While in Ukraine, Blinken was expected to meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, and Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba "to discuss Ukraine’s ongoing counteroffensive and future recovery and reconstruction efforts," according to the statement.
Blinken was also expected to address "Ukraine’s energy, security, and humanitarian needs," and make "announcements about how the United States can continue supporting Ukraine in these areas," according to the US Department of State.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.
Wednesday is day 560 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
