US ambassador congratulates Poland's new PM Donald Tusk

The US ambassador to Poland, Mark Brzezinski, has sent congratulations to Donald Tusk on his election as Poland's prime minister.

In a post on the X platform, Brzezinski emphasized the strategic importance of a continued partnership between the United States and Poland under Tusk's leadership, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

Tusk, the leader of the liberal Civic Platform (PO) party, was elected prime minister by the Polish parliament on Monday evening, securing 248 votes in favor, with the election marking a significant political shift in Poland.

Tusk was set to deliver a policy speech and undergo a vote of confidence in the lower house, the Sejm, on Tuesday.

The swearing-in ceremony for Tusk's Cabinet is scheduled to take place at the presidential palace in Warsaw on Wednesday morning.
