Poland's Radosław Sikorski and America's Penny Pritzker held in talks in Warsaw on Thursday.

The meeting was part of the efforts of both countries to "strengthen cooperation and mobilise means and resources to provide military, economic, and humanitarian aid for Ukraine," according to officials.

The Polish foreign minister underlined the "crucial importance of US military support" for Ukraine's war effort against the Russian invasion.

Sikorski also noted the "unprecedented scale of military and economic assistance provided by the European Union and its member states."

Meanwhile, Pritzker highlighted Poland's support for Ukraine, including military assistance and political support, as well as the "impressive engagement" of Polish people and its authorities in welcoming Ukrainian refugees.

The two agreed it was "in the interest of the Western countries" to step up "military and financial assistance for Ukraine," according to officials.

Poland's top diplomat said Warsaw was one of the leading donors for Ukraine and remained active in "multilateral formats" designed to support Kyiv.

Sikorski also noted that economic recovery would aid Ukraine's bid for EU membership, helping Kyiv "meet the accession process goals swiftly and efficiently," the government in Warsaw said.

Friday is day 688 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.
