The Polish foreign ministry said in an X post on Monday that the conversation "focused on transatlantic relations and European security issues, especially in the Baltic Sea region."

Earlier this year, Sikorski and Valtonen discussed "hybrid threats on the eastern borders of the European Union" during a meeting in Helsinki, according to an announcement at the time.

The two agreed to "tighten and strengthen" the bloc's sanctions against Russia over its invasion of Ukraine and to "introduce solutions allowing the use of frozen Russian assets for the reconstruction of Ukraine," according to the Polish foreign ministry.
