The minister emphasised that Poland is among the first countries Hegseth will visit since taking office.

Hegseth’s tour, beginning on 10 February, will include meetings with US troops in Germany, a NATO defence ministers’ summit in Brussels, and a UK-led Ukraine Defence Contact Group meeting.

In Poland, he is expected to discuss defence cooperation, deterrence measures on NATO’s eastern flank, and Poland’s role as a key ally in military investment and burden-sharing.

According to an official statement, during the NATO defense ministers' meeting in Brussels, Hegseth will discuss "the need to increase allied defense spending, strengthen European leadership, and enhance the defense industrial base on both sides of the Atlantic."

Regarding Ukraine, he will highlight President Donald Trump’s commitment to securing a diplomatic resolution to the war and stress the need for stronger European leadership in supporting Kyiv.

While in Poland, Hegseth will also meet US troops stationed in the country to discuss their strategic role in regional security.

His participation in the NATO summit in Brussels will be the first such meeting under the new Trump administration.
