“We are satisfied with the new proposals and new ideas for ending the Russian aggression against Ukraine,” Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said Wednesday after meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart, Andriy Sybiha, in Warsaw.
"We are in constant contact, but nothing beats a direct conversation about Polish-Ukrainian and Ukraine-EU matters," FM Sikorski added, highlighting Poland's continued diplomatic support for Ukraine in its defense efforts and European integration.
Poland supports new diplomatic efforts
The meeting followed nine hours of negotiations in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where Ukraine agreed to a U.S.-proposed 30-day ceasefire. In response, Washington pledged to resume military and intelligence support for Kyiv. Both sides also agreed to sign a deal on rare mineral resources.
Sikorski noted that Poland had consulted with Ukraine before the Jeddah talks and had prior discussions with U.S. Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia, General Keith Kellogg.
Arms shipments via Poland resume
American arms deliveries to Ukraine through Poland have been restored, Sikorski and Sybiha confirmed in Warsaw. The Ukrainian minister highlighted Rzeszów’s crucial role as a logistical hub, while Sikorski assured that shipments through Jasionka had returned to previous levels.
The Polish minister also reiterated Poland’s support for Ukraine’s military, emphasizing the country’s $200 million contribution to providing Starlink services.
„I can confirm that the arms deliveries through Jasionka have returned to the same levels as before. I understand that the Starlinks are also working,” the head of Polish diplomacy emphasized.
Poland remains committed to supporting Ukraine
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha stressed Kyiv’s desire for a lasting peace and thanked Poland for its ongoing support. Meanwhile, Polish Foreign Ministry spokesperson Paweł Wroński emphasized that decisions on peace talks and Ukraine’s reconstruction remain Kyiv’s responsibility.
Following negotiations in Saudi Arabia, the U.S. and Ukraine also announced plans to sign an agreement on rare earth minerals. With the ceasefire proposal now on the table, President Donald Trump is awaiting Moscow’s response.
