The so-called “Hands Off” demonstrations were organized in more than 1,200 locations across all 50 US states over the weekend, by more than 150 groups - including civil rights organizations and labor unions. They have also attracted those so far politically passive. According to the Washington Post, the US capital's protest initially expected 10,000 participants, on Friday they doubled their expectations, and on Saturday afternoon an estimated 100,000 people assembled.
The Washington protest was not the only one that gathered a numerous crowd. From the East to the West Coast of the United States, hundreds of thousands of protesters verbally opposed the actions of Donald Trump and the eminence grise billionaire Elon Musk - even in traditionally "red states" like Utah.
The participants across the country expressed their anger at the new administration’s actions to lay off thousands of federal workers, close Social Security field offices, deport immigrants without due process, reduce minorities recognition (war heroes included), cut funding for health programs, cause an economic crisis of humongous proportions - and many more issues, the number of which seems to grow exponentially in the US on a daily basis now.
Hundreds of people also demonstrated in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a few miles from Donald Trump's golf course, where the president is spending the weekend and plans to play golf on Sunday, according to the White House.
