The Puls Biznesu daily quoted Google Cloud’s business development director in Poland and Central and Eastern Europe, Magdalena Dziewguć, as saying that the Warsaw facility would be “the biggest investment in infrastructure of this kind in Poland.”
The data centre, called Region Google Cloud, is expected to be operational at the start of next year, Dziewguć said, as cited by the paper on Wednesday.
Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Development Minister Jadwiga Emilewicz has estimated Google could invest from USD 1.5 billion to USD 2 billion in the project, according to Puls Biznesu.
The news came after software giant Microsoft last month announced it would invest USD 1 billion in digital technology in Poland.
