High energy bills and a concern for the environment are the leading motives for energy saving among Poles, the study by pollster IBRiS reveals.
People tend to opt for energy-saving measures that do not affect their comfort of living but produce some real savings, according to the pollster.
To save energy, Poles switch off their home lights, unplug electronic devices when these are not in use, and optimise their use of appliances such as kettles, washing machines and dishwashers, Magda Smokowska of the Polish Electricity Association said.
Other eco-friendly practices include using energy-efficient bulbs and appliances to cut electricity bills, the study found.
Poles are also growing more aware of their carbon footprint, according to Michał Kowalczyk, the head of IBRiS.
This promotes more energy-conscious purchase decisions and makes the Polish public "greener" in terms of everyday habits and preferences, he said.
