A sharp drop in investments, GDP growth slumping to about 1% and a skyrocketing inflation rate, leading to a possible stagflation - these are some of the threats to Poland’s economy, envisaged in a new report by an NGO called the European Fund for the Development of Rural Poland (Europejski Fundusz Rozwoju Wsi Polskiej).

Compiled by the country's top economists, the document looks at the challenges the policy-makers are facing while at the same time urging them to reconsider future policies.

"The recent economic numbers, e.g. concerning the high growth, are actually misleading as Poland has been slowly slipping into a stagflation. Obviously the shocks, connected especially with the war in Ukraine, heavily increased the risks for the Polish economy. Our recommendation is that Poland's economic policy-makers should look really seriously at those challenges because the situation is really difficult," professor Witold Orłowski, one of the authors of the report, told Radio Poland’s Danuta Isler.
