The annual competition, held by Italy's The Plan magazine, attracted 1,200 architectural studios, more than 400 of which qualified for the finals.
Poland’s winning project, called The Polish House, is inspired by Polish timber architecture, manor houses and open-air museums.
It fulfills the function of a multigenerational house as well as a recreation place for tourists, according to the architects behind the projec.
The Polish House is located in the village of Gródek on the river Dunajec in southern Poland.
Barnaś studied architecture in Kraków, southern Poland, and Germany.
He founded his BXBstudio in 2009 after working for a number of internationally known practices, including Foster and Partners.
In 2014, he was named one of world’s 20 best young architectural talents by Wallpaper magazine. His projects were presented at the London Festival of Architecture.
In 2021, The Polish Eaves Cottage designed by his studio won the "Rethinking the Future" Global Design Architecture Award.
Barnaś also won the German Design Award 2022 Special and the European Property Award for the design.
