US President hails nuclear energy cooperation with Poland

The American president has said that the US-Poland cooperation in civil nuclear energy is a "pillar" of bilateral economic ties and demonstrates the commitment of the two countries to "bolstering energy security and addressing the climate crisis."

Joe Biden made the remark in a letter congratulating Donald Tusk on becoming Poland's new prime minister.

The letter was issued on December 13 and Tusk' Office shared it on social media on Wednesday night. 

The US president wrote that America "greatly values" its "strategic partnership with Poland on energy security."

Biden added his country was proud that Poland had chosen the US as its partner for the first-ever Polish nuclear station. 

The US president wrote his administration looked forward to "deepening our energy partnership."

Biden stated: "Civil nuclear energy cooperation serves as a pillar of our economic ties and demonstrates our shared commitment to bolstering European energy security and addressing the climate crisis."

Poland's first nuclear power plant is scheduled for launch in 2033 on the Baltic coast, in cooperation with US firms Westinghouse and Bechtel.
