The survey was commissioned by GI Group Holding, Polish state news agency PAP reported. Titled "The Barometer of Employment Prospects," the report asked companies about their employment plans and employees about their salary expectations.

According to the survey, 13 percent of Polish employers are planning to expand their workforce in the second quarter of 2024, while only 5 percent are considering reducing staff numbers.

This reflects a cautious yet increasingly optimistic sentiment, particularly among larger companies and within the industrial sector, the report says.

Most employers, around 78 percent, are expected to maintain their current employee count. Of these, 58 percent do not plan to recruit new staff, while 20 percent foresee the need to hire additional personnel.

In the last quarter of 2023, 60 percent of companies maintained stable salaries, while 29 percent opted to give raises. However, there has been a decrease in the number of companies planning salary increases compared to the previous year, influenced by factors such as inflation and adjustments to the minimum wage.

Employee expectations for salary increases are on the rise, particularly among those aged 25-54, with workers in the trade sector and blue-collar jobs expressing optimism. Approximately 31 percent of employees expect their salaries to remain unchanged, while nearly 60 percent anticipate raises, with the majority expecting increases ranging from 11-20 percent in salary.
