With the harvest period underway, farmers in Poland have requested lenience in the enforcement of the quiet required at night according to public order regulations.

Krzysztof Grabowski, who chairs the Greater Poland Agricultural Council, has asked the neighbours of farmers not to call the police to intervene if farmers are working at night and creating noise.

He also asked farmers to take special care of children in the harvesting period - i.e. make sure they are at home far from combine harvesters. In Poland as in other countries, children were often involved in the harvest in the past, to speed up work during favourable weather conditions. However with largely mechanised harvesting this can be extremely dangerous for minors.

According to the Polish Press Agency, the number of accidents in 2023 fell from 2022, but there was still an alarming 1203 accidents, including 5 fatalities.
