There were around 766,400 people without jobs across the nation at the end of July, down by 16,100 from a year earlier, according to the government.

The state-run Statistics Poland agency (GUS) reported last month that the Polish jobless rate had dropped to 4.9 percent in June, from 5 percent in May.

Meanwhile, the European Unions Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, estimated earlier this month that unemployment in Poland stood at 3 percent in June, marking the second-lowest rate in the 27-nation bloc.
