“We are pleased to see strong interest in our investment project from leading players in the global financial market, with whom we are in constant contact. The letter of intent from Export Development Canada is another confirmation of this, and at the same time, it marks our next step toward implementing the strategy to secure financing for the entire project,” said Piotr Piela, Vice President of the company, in a statement cited by PEJ.

EDC is a Canadian Crown corporation with extensive experience in financing energy projects worldwide, focused on supporting Canadian exports and international trade.

PEJ announced through social media that it has already received letters of intent from the U.S. Export-Import Bank and the International Development Finance Corporation, totaling over 80 billion PLN (approximately 1.97 billion USD or 1.87 billion EUR), and continues to work with export credit agencies to secure financing for Poland's key nuclear power plant project in Pomerania, a region located in the northern part of the country along the Baltic Sea.

Poland's first nuclear power plant is planned to be built in Choczewo, located in the northern part of the country, about 60 km north of Gdańsk, 230 km from Szczecin, and 450 km from Berlin.
