The PLN 11.5 million (around EUR 2.7 million, USD 2.8 million) contract was awarded to Cundall Polska following a competitive tender, the Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (Central Transport Hub, CPK) company announced on Friday.
The facilities will include infrastructure for snow removal services, vehicle maintenance and a service center for airport operations.
The design work, along with the submission of building permit applications, is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2026
Spanning nearly 25,000 square meters of building space on a 140,000-square-meter plot, the complex will be located near the airport's southwest gate.
Cundall is an international engineering and project management consultancy with projects spanning the globe, including the recently awarded rebuilding of housing and public spaces in Ukraine’s second-largest city, Kharkiv, which has been severely damaged by Russia's ongoing aggression against the country.
The project encompasses detailed planning for garages for winter equipment, storage for transport vehicles, and spaces for technical servicing.
CPK said the plans include conceptual, construction, technical and executive designs.
Work is also progressing on other key components of the airport. Designs for the airport's fire and rescue buildings, valued at PLN 6.6 million, are in an advanced stage.
Meanwhile, the design of the air traffic control tower, worth PLN 15.5 million, is ongoing. In August, CPK signed a PLN 4.7 million contract to design an Airline Operations Control Center.
The broader airport plan includes a passenger terminal and a train station, with construction permits expected to be filed next year. Advanced designs for runways, taxiways and aprons are already underway.
CPK is a state-owned company tasked with developing Poland's new central airport and an integrated network of railways, expressways and other infrastructure.
Located between the capital Warsaw and the central city of Łódź, the planned new airport is designed to handle 34 million passengers annually in its initial phase, with scalable expansion planned to meet future demand.
The project is part of a broader program to enhance Poland's transportation infrastructure, including a high-speed rail network.
Estimated to cost PLN 131.7 billion by 2032, the program aims to launch both the airport and the first high-speed rail link between Warsaw, CPK and Łódź by 2032.
