Although Poland currently has the lowest unemployment rate in the European Union, standing at 2.6% according to Eurostat, many large companies in the country are conducting mass layoffs.
As Business Insider has found, job cuts have affected major employers such as Poczta Polska, PKP Cargo, the banking sector, and manufacturing companies relocating operations to cheaper countries like Tunisia.
The reasons behind these layoffs include rising labor costs, technological advancements, and the restructuring of state-owned giants. However, the overall job market remains stable.
Employers still struggle more to find workers than the other way around, and compared to Germany, where companies are facing significant difficulties, Poland's layoffs appear to be only a minor adjustment.
