Polish retail sales 0.5% down y/y in February: stats office

Retail sales in Poland edged down by 0.5 percent in February at constant prices compared with the same month a year earlier, the country’s statistics office reported on Monday.

Sales of clothing and shoes increased 6 percent last month in year-on-year terms, and those of furniture, household appliances and consumer electronics rose by 5.8 percent, the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.

Meanwhile, sales of food, beverages and tobacco products went down by 2.2 percent, and those of fuels decreased 3 percent, according to Statistics Poland.

In terms of current prices, retail sales last month were 0.6 percent higher than in February 2024, Statistics Poland said.

In month-on-month terms, retail sales in February were 6 percent lower than in January, the statistics office also reported.
